Maine's sexual assault support centers can help.

Maine's sexual assault support centers help survivors families and friends - anytime. If the assault happened yesterday or 30 years ago, Maine's advocates are there to help with whatever you need. If you child has been sexually abused and you are facing the issue for the first time, they can help. They can also help if you yourself have been abused or assaulted and are having a lot of feelings about what has happened with your child. Below is some information about what they can help with and how.

What They Help With

    Emotional support for survivors, their parents, and other family members 
    Going to the hospital or the police with you if you want to go
    Helping you fill out paperwork 
    Helping you find other community help if you need it
    Explaining your options
    Support for you no matter when you were hurt 


How They Help
Maine's sexual assault support centers are connected to or are part of Maine's CACs. They can help in many ways.

    Free, private 24-hour helpline, text, and chat with trained people who understand and know how to help
    Crisis support anytime to survivors and their families and friends 
    Help, info, and company for survivors who go to the hospital, police, or court
    Support groups
    Contacts to more resources in your area
    Training and other support for agencies and organizations
    Community and school education that increases public awareness, prevents violence, and helps to keep our community safe

Click here to find your local sexual assault support center. If your child is seen at a CAC, they can put you in touch with someone from the sexual assault support center.

Maine Coalition Against Sexual Assault

The Maine Network of Children's Advocacy Centers is a program of the Maine Coalition Against Sexual Assault (MECASA). MECASA is organized to end sexual violence and to support high quality sexual violence prevention and response in Maine's communities. MECASA is the organization that supports Maine's sexual assault support centers, works on public policy to support victims, provides expert training and technical assistance related to sexual violence prevention and response, and informs the public's conversation about the issue.
